PALO ALTO, Calif. – November 19, 2014 – Space Systems/Loral (SSL), one of the world’s leading commercial satellite manufacturers, today announced that it has been awarded a contract to provide communications satellites to PT Pasifik Satelit Nusantara (PSN). The commercial satellite, named PSN VI, will provide communications services throughout Southeast Asia, including a High Throughput Satellite (HTS) payload for broadband internet services in Indonesia.
With C-band and Ku-Band transponders, PSN VI will be used to provide voice and data communications, video distribution, and broadband internet services throughout the Indonesian archipelago. PSN is the first privately held satellite telecommunications company in Indonesia and a leading satellite service provider covering a wide range of satellite-based telecommunications services in Asia.

According to the plan, the PSN VI satellite will be launched in early 2017 and will be placed in the 146⁰ East Longitude orbit slot. Based on the SSL 1300 platform which has proven its reliability and is able to provide flexibility for various applications and technological advances in the telecommunications sector, this satellite is designed to be able to provide services for 15 years or more.
