Jakarta, July 8, 2024 – PT Pasifik Satelit Nusantara (PSN), the first private satellite company in Indonesia, continues to develop satellite-based services in the country by collaborating with Elena Geo Tech Pvt Ltd, a leading navigation-based product manufacturing company from Bengaluru, India. Through this international collaboration, PSN and Elena will synergize in developing the Indonesian satellite Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) system. The collaboration between PSN and Elena was realized in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding at the India Space New Congress in New Delhi, India.
PSN Technology Director, Satrio Adiwicaksono explained, as a national company, PSN continues to develop itself in providing satellite-based services. For 33 years of operation, PSN has focused on communication services. With a long track record and seeing that there is still great potential that can be maximized from the satellite industry, PSN is carrying out strategic expansion by entering the navigation sector.
“The international collaboration between PSN and Elena shows that as a national company, we continue to push ourselves to strengthen the space ecosystem by building manufacturing capabilities in the Indonesian satellite industry, one of which is satellite-based Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT). By being managed independently, we believe that it will support the government in creating economic independence in the national satellite industry,” said Satrio.
PSN President Director, Adi Rahman Adiwoso said, the background of PSN’s collaboration with Elena is considering the company’s track record in producing satellite-based navigation system manufacturing. Another aspect is the advancement of the satellite industry in India. This is thanks to the strong support of the Indian Government in advancing the domestic satellite industry. As a result, India has succeeded in having a satellite navigation system (Navigation with Indian Constellation) developed by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO).

“These two aspects are strong considerations for us to collaborate with Elena. Through this momentum, we will also maximize technology transfer so that in the future Indonesia can produce its own satellite-based Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) system,” said Adi Rahman.
With the development of a satellite navigation system with Elena, it will later be aimed at the transportation, air and sea navigation and defense sectors. By applying satellite navigation in Indonesia, all sectors that require and use PNT will find it easy to determine position, speed, direction and timeliness accurately, thus creating high accuracy and efficiency.
“Together with Elena, we will explore the planning program comprehensively and map the potential for collaboration in creating the Indonesian Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) system and its market so that it can be well absorbed when launched to the market,” said Adi Rahman.
